BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has left his residence in Gulshan to pay his respects at the tomb of martyred President Ziaur Rahman.
He left his residence at 2:52 pm on Friday (December 26). After reciting Fatiha at the tomb and visiting the grave, he will go to the National Memorial to pay his respects.
A close crowd of BNP leaders and activists was seen around the mausoleum before Tarique Rahman's arrival. Senior leaders of the party have already arrived there.
Meanwhile, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said that the people welcomed Tarique Rahman with a royal procession. He expressed hope that under his leadership, Bangladesh will truly become a democratic state.
BNP Standing Committee member Mirza Abbas expressed hope that with the arrival of Tarique Rahman, the election-related complications and all the confusion in the country will be cleared.
