S Jaishankar and Indian High Commissioner attended Khaleda Zia's funeral. As soon as the news of Begum Khaleda Zia's death was received, S Jaishankar expressed deep condolences through his X-ray and announced his presence at Begum Khaleda Zia's funeral. S Jaishankar arrived at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka on a special flight from India at around 11 am today (December 31). Shortly after S Jaishankar reached Dhaka, he conveyed his condolences to Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman.
Ishrat Jahan, Director General of the South Asia Wing of the Ministry of External Affairs, and other officials welcomed him. Indian High Commissioner in Dhaka Pranab Verma was also present at the time. However, S Jaishankar's presence in Dhaka has set a new record as this is the first visit by India to Bangladesh since the fall of Sheikh Hasina last August.
Many world leaders are attending the funeral of BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia, pleased with her political activities.
