We will build a country where mothers dream. We want peace: Tarique Rahman

We will build a country that a mother would dream of. We want peace in Bangladesh. This was the first speech of Tarique Rahman to the nation in the last 17 years on Bangladeshi soil. He delivered this speech at a program organized at 300 feet in Purbachal, the capital, after reaching the country today (December 25).

Tarique Rahman said, "You have all witnessed the way in which mothers and sisters to the younger generation have sacrificed their lives in the last fifteen years. The brave children of the time - the July fighters - have been brutally killed. Only if we can build the Bangladesh of the dreams of those who were martyred, including Osman Hadi, will it be possible to build a real country. For this, we have to be patient. Especially the young people have to come forward and work together.

At the beginning of his speech, he said,

“First of all, I express my gratitude to the Almighty. With his infinite mercy and grace, I have once again had the opportunity to return to you, to the land of my beloved motherland.

Tareq Rahman said, just as the people of this country united in 1971 and snatched away independence, in 2024 too, people of all classes and professions stood together and protected the independence and sovereignty of Bangladesh. Today, the people of the country want to restore their right to express their opinions, they are eager to regain the right to democracy.

He further said, people from the hills and plains live in this country—Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists and Christians all together make up Bangladesh. We want to build a safe Bangladesh, where men, women and children—whoever they are, can leave their homes safely and return safely.

Regarding martyr Osman Hadi, the acting chairman of BNP said, Osman Hadi’s dream was to restore their economic rights to the people of this country. Those who were martyred in 1971 and 2024 If we are to repay the blood of those who have been killed, we must build the Bangladesh we have been waiting for.

He said, the responsibility of building the future Bangladesh lies in the hands of the young generation. The country must move forward on a democratic system and a strong economic foundation. We wish for peace and stability for the country.

Earlier, at around 11:30 am, Bangladesh Airlines' 'BG-202' flight carrying Tarique Rahman landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka.

On this day, he crossed the airport's VIP lounge and set foot on the country's soil, and the BNP acting chairman breathed the fresh air of his homeland after a long time.
