At least 10 people have died in a bus accident in the eastern part of the Central American state of Mexico. Another 32 people were injured in the incident, AFP reported.
The incident took place on Thursday (December 25). The local administration of the Mexican state of Veracruz officially confirmed the accident on this day. The injured have been rescued and sent to various nearby hospitals, authorities said.
The accident occurred during the festivities in the city of Zantecomatlan in the state. The bus was traveling from the capital Mexico City to the village of Chicontepec.

The mayor's office of Zantecomatlan said nine adults and one child were among the dead. Thirty-two people were hospitalized with injuries.
Bus and truck accidents are common in Mexico, mainly due to vehicle malfunctions and speeding. In November of this year, a similar road accident in the state of Michoacan killed 10 people and injured 20 others.
