Manchester United have won the English Premier League match. Patrick Dogu scored the only goal as the Red Devils defeated Newcastle United 1-0.
The match was held in front of a packed audience at Old Trafford on Friday night on the occasion of Boxing Day. United took the lead midway through the first half. Patrick Dogu scored a spectacular volley from a corner kick in the 24th minute of the match. This was his first goal in the United jersey.
After that, Newcastle United were ahead in terms of ball possession, number of attacks and chance creation throughout the rest of the match. However, the visiting team had to leave the field with a loss in the end as the desired goal was not seen.
Despite having 66 percent of the ball possession, Newcastle had to leave the field without seeing the goal despite taking 13 shots on goal at the Red Devils' camp. However, despite being behind in possession, Manchester United attacked Newcastle's posts 10 times. The win moved Amorim's team up to 29 points and into fifth place in the table after two consecutive losses.
