NCP's Tasneem Zara resigns from party post

Tasneem Zara, the senior joint member secretary of the National Citizens Party (NCP), has resigned from the party. NCP sources confirmed this information on Saturday (December 27).

In addition, there are ongoing discussions in the political arena that Tasneem Zara's husband and joint convener of the National Citizens Party, Khaled Saifullah, may also step down from the party post.

Meanwhile, Tasneem Zara has announced that she will contest the upcoming 13th National Parliament elections as an independent candidate from Dhaka-9 constituency. She announced this decision through a written statement published on her verified Facebook account on Saturday.

In a statement, Tasneem Zara said that she is a local person. She was born and raised in the Khilgaon area. From the beginning, she had a dream of going to parliament under the banner of a political party and working for the people of her area and the country. However, considering the current reality, she said that she has decided to participate in the elections independently, not as a candidate of any party or alliance.

Tasnim Zara said that she had already promised the countrymen and the people of her area that she would stand by them and struggle to build a new political culture. No matter what the situation, she said that she would remain steadfast in implementing that promise. That is why she has decided to contest as an independent candidate from Dhaka-9 constituency in the upcoming elections.

She also said that if a candidate of a political party, he has the opportunity to talk to the local office, organized workers, and the government and administration on various issues including security. But since she is participating in the elections outside her party identity, she will not have these benefits.

Tasnim Zara said that her only strength in this fight is the common people. As a daughter of the area, she seeks the love and support of the people based on her honesty, sense of responsibility and strong conviction to do a new kind of politics. She mentioned that she will get the opportunity to devote herself to their service only if she gets the sympathy and cooperation of the people.

Meanwhile, Tasnim Zara will need the signatures of at least 4,693 voters of Dhaka-9 constituency to file her nomination as an independent candidate. He said that the signature collection process will start tomorrow, Sunday (December 27). He also sought the active cooperation of the voters in this work.

On the other hand, there is talk in the political arena that the NCP is moving towards forming an alliance with Jamaat in the upcoming national elections. This decision has created dissatisfaction among several leaders and activists within the party. In particular, some of the female candidates announced by the NCP have raised objections to this issue, among whom the name of Tasnim Zara has also come up. For these reasons, he has announced to participate in the elections not under the party symbol, but under an individual identity.
