The Pakistani government has sentenced former cricketer Imran Khan and his wife to 17 years in prison. (December 19, 2025) A special court in Rawalpindi announced the verdict on Friday. Not only was the court sentenced to 17 years in prison, but it also imposed a fine, which could increase the punishment. However, the former cricketer's lawyer has announced an appeal in the High Court against the verdict.
This was the second case against the former cricketer in the Toshakhana corruption case. This case was filed by Pakistan's Anti-Corruption Bureau (NAB). PTI founder Imran Khan and his wife were accused of fraud over state gifts.
The complaint filed against Imran Khan and his wife. "They embezzled a state gift of an expensive jewelry set given by the Saudi Crown Prince in 2021 for a nominal price. However, Imran has denied all the allegations. The claim is that the case was filed intentionally to remove him from politics. Imran and Bushra's lawyers have announced an appeal against the verdict in the High Court."
This hearing took place while the former cricketer was in prison, Imran Khan was arrested in 2023. He has been serving his sentence in Rawalpindi's Adiyawala Jail since 2023. In the first case of Toshakhana, the former cricketer and his wife (Bushra Bibi) were sentenced to 14 years in prison. They were also banned for 10 years.
