The advisory council has given final approval to this issue today (December 24, 2025). This approval has been given so that no government or political party will make a bid in the future like the Awami League shut down the internet last year. The entire issue was analyzed in front of the media by the press secretary of the chief advisor.
The press secretary said that the previous laws have been modernized and updated in the ordinance. Emphasis has been placed on shutting down the internet. Through this law, the power, effectiveness and accountability of the BTRC have been consolidated. The confidentiality of customer information and the quality of service have been ensured. In addition, fraud and illegal activities have been prevented.
He also said that the protection of personal information is very important. A committee will work on whether the National Telecommunication Monitoring Center (NTMC) will be abolished or not.
Regarding the budget, he said that the revenue revenue level in the amended budget has been increased to Tk 5 lakh 88 thousand crore. Food inflation is expected to come down to 7 percent in the current fiscal year. The GDP growth rate will be 5 percent in the next fiscal year.
Regarding Osman Hadi, he said, the government is working on Osman Hadi's issue with the highest priority. Although the main accused could not be arrested, many of his associates have been arrested. The government is with Dipu Chandra Das' family. He will be tried under the Speedy Trial Act. The government will do everything necessary for this.
The press secretary also said that talks are underway with BNP regarding Tarique Rahman's security. The government will provide Tarique Rahman with maximum security.
Regarding Awami League, Shafiqul Alam said, our position on Awami League is clear. The party's activities are banned. Therefore, Awami League will not be able to participate in the elections. He also said that the ongoing tension between India and Bangladesh was discussed in the advisory council at that time.
