Mir Arshadul Haque has resigned from the post of joint member secretary of the Bangladesh Jatiya Party (NCP) and joined the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), alleging that the NCP has failed. He made this comment in a post on his Facebook. He wrote in this post - I have resigned from the Bangladesh Jatiya Party from now on. I am no longer contesting elections on behalf of the NCP. I want to contest on behalf of the BNP. He made such an announcement on a special day that the whole of Bangladesh will remember, because today (December 25, 2025), every Thursday, Tareq Zia has set foot on the soil of Bangladesh for the past 17 years. Mir Arshadul Haque welcomed the arrival of Tareq Zia.
Mir Arshadul further said that the journey of the NCP started with the desire of the July mass uprising and the promise of a new political settlement. But in the experience of the last 10 months since the establishment of the NCP, it has become clear to me that this party and its leaders have completely failed to keep that promise. There is nothing left of the dreams and possibilities that I saw when I joined the NCP. I think the party and the leaders of a large section are on the wrong path. I cannot continue on this wrong path. From this moment on, I have no political relations with the NCP. However, there will be personal relations. Best wishes to them.
He further said that a group is currently trying to destabilize Bangladesh by planting religious slogans. They are using the holy religion of Islam and trying to divide the society.
We will build a country where mothers dream. We want peace: Tarique Rahman
A trend of creating controversy over the great liberation war is currently being observed in Bangladesh. A group or clique is trying to push the country towards an uncertain future for its own interests. The most urgent need at this moment is the transition to democracy and the establishment of stability in Bangladesh,' added Mir Arshadul Haque.
According to him, keeping in mind the future, it is necessary to organize and strengthen new young leaders with politically conscious, advanced and progressive thinking, new initiatives and current pro-Bangladesh parties.
He wrote, "In the current situation of the country, there is no alternative to forming a government under the leadership of Tarique Rahman and the alliance winning a majority of seats. My personal observation after reviewing Tarique Rahman's various activities and statements during the July coup and afterwards is that at this moment, he has the skills and ability to lead the country by embracing everyone.
'When other parties are trying to cross the electoral threshold by making religion and populism the main agenda, Tarique Rahman is presenting a clear vision to the nation on various issues directly related to people's daily lives, including health, education, environment. He is also talking about specific and realistic solutions based on various sectors including people's health, education, environment, culture, employment in the coming days. This smart approach has attracted me."
Mir Arshad believes that the youth should cooperate and support Tarique Rahman in implementing his public welfare vision by considering the overall interests, future and welfare of the country without being influenced by populism or any commotion.
He expressed his full personal support.
