Bangladesh Police have arrested 3 leaders and workers of Awami League from Gaibandha, Bangladesh. Today (December 29) last night, Bangladesh Police conducted a raid in Nakai Hat area of Gobindaganj Upazila. And in that raid, Bangladesh Police arrested Gautam. And later, the police conducted a separate raid and arrested two more people. The matter was confirmed by Mozammel Haque, the officer-in-charge of Gobindaganj Police Station. Those arrested in the raid are Abu Hossain Md. Nasim Mandal (30) of Sadullapur Upazila, Saju Pradhan (35) of Gobindaganj Upazila and Shri Gobind Kumar Gautam.
Police informed that Saju Pradhan was the former president of Chhatra League of Shital village of Nakai Union. Gautam, a lecturer at a college in Sonatala area, had a dispute with former MP Abul Kalam Azad over his writings and came into discussion and criticism. Earlier, he was known to be close to another former MP from Gobindaganj, Monowar Hossain Chowdhury. He has also served a total of 6 months and 10 days in prison in two cases filed under the Information Technology Act.
Police said that he will be sent to jail on Monday morning through a court after being shown arrested in a political case.
Meanwhile, police have arrested a young man named Abu Hossain Md. Nasim Mandal in Sadullapur Upazila, posing as a leader of the banned organization Chhatra League. He was sent to jail through a court on Sunday afternoon. Police said that he was sent to jail after being shown arrested in a case filed in connection with an attack on the anti-discrimination student movement.
Sadullapur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abdul Alim said that Nasim was arrested because his name was the organizing secretary in the Sadullapur Upazila Committee of the banned organization Chhatra League. He was sent to Sadar Police Station the same night after his arrest. However, regarding the allegations that Nasim was arrested on the basis of fake committee papers, the OC said that the matter is being investigated.
On the other hand, his relatives have alleged that Nasim was deliberately framed as a Chhatra League leader. They claim that Nasim was never associated with any political organization and does not hold any position. Sadullapur police arrested him from his house adjacent to the post office on Saturday night.

The arrested Nasim is a resident of Kazibari Santola village in Bongram union of Sadullapur upazila. He is the son of the late Abdul Mannaf Mandal.
