Rajnath Singh

In the face of the recent conflict and diplomatic deadlock between India and Pakistan, Indian Defense Minister Rajnath Singh has created a new controversy. He commented that Pakistan's Sindh province may one day be part of India. Terming Rajnath Singh's comments as 'expansionist and misleading', Pakistan said that such comments are 'against international law'. Rajnath Singh made these comments about Pakistan's Sindh province yesterday Sunday.

He attended a conference organized by the Sindhi community in Delhi. While speaking there, he quoted some of the words of former Indian Deputy Prime Minister and senior BJP leader Lal Krishna Advani. Advani himself was a Sindhi. He has also written a lot about Sindhi society. Referring to one such writing by Advani, Rajnath said, 'In one book, he wrote that the Hindus of Sindh province, especially those of his generation, could not accept the separation of that province from India.

Not only Sindhis, but the entire country considers the Indus River sacred.’ After this, Rajnath said, ‘Sindh is not a part of India today. But what does that matter? In terms of civilization, Sindh has always been considered a part of India. The rest is the territory. The border can change. Who can say that Sindh will not be a part of India one day?’ Pakistan wasted no time in reacting to Rajnath’s comments. The Ministry of External Affairs issued a strong statement last night.

It said, naming Indian Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, ‘That comment is not only wrong, but also severely revisionist. Such comments are a manifestation of Hindutva expansionist mentality and challenge the accepted and established reality. These comments are against international law, violation of recognized borders and sovereignty.’ Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry did not stop there.

It requested Rajnath Singh and other top Indian leaders not to make such provocative and anti-regional peace comments. The statement also mentioned the situation of the North-East and minorities in India. The statement also mentioned the Jammu and Kashmir issue.

It said that India should resolve this issue in accordance with the resolutions of the United Nations Security Council and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people. Pakistan is ready to peacefully resolve all disputes in accordance with international law while maintaining its security, independence and sovereignty.

Raising the Kashmir issue is not new. But this is the first time that Pakistan has brought up the North-East in response to Rajnath Singh's remarks. The Pakistani statement said that the people of the North-East of India are oppressed, many of whom are being forced to live in marginalization,

are victims of identity-based persecution and from time to time, state terrorism. In the statement, the Pakistani Foreign Ministry said that India should pay attention to this.
