Suicide attack in Pakistan

A suicide bomber attacked the headquarters of the Federal Constabulary (FC) in Peshawar, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, on Monday morning. Three FC personnel were killed. The suicide attack took place around 8 am on a busy road in the Saddar area of ​​Peshawar city. Video footage showed a masked terrorist coming to the gate of the FC headquarters and detonating a suicide bomb. 

A few seconds later, two more terrorists tried to enter the headquarters premises. Peshawar Capital City Police Officer Mian Saeed Ahmed told reporters that initially three terrorists tried to attack the headquarters. One blew himself up at the gate, and two were shot dead by FC personnel. Mian Saeed Ahmed also said that three FC personnel were killed in the attack. Two were injured. 

They have been taken to the hospital. After the attack, a raid was conducted outside the headquarters. The terrorists' plot was foiled due to the vigilance of FC members. Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif strongly condemned the attack and praised the security forces for "taking timely action". 

He prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured. He promised to foil any terrorist plot against Pakistan. Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari expressed his condolences to the families of the deceased. The FC headquarters is located in a densely populated area near the cantonment. 

It houses barracks, a hospital and residential quarters. An assembly was scheduled to be held there at the time of the attack. Following the attack, emergency was declared at Lady Reading Hospital and Khyber Teaching Hospital. Twelve injured people are being treated at the two hospitals. 

Today's incident is the second major terrorist attack on a security installation in Peshawar in recent years. In 2023, 84 people were killed in a suicide attack on a mosque in the Police Lines area of ​​Peshawar.
