FIFA's Fournament-2026
FIFA has announced the launch of a new international tournament next year. The first edition of the competition, called ‘FIFA Series 2026’, will be held during the international break in March and April next year. It will feature men’s and women’s national teams. The main objective of the tournament is to accelerate the development of relatively lesser-known and weak footballing countries, where they will have the opportunity to compete against other countries and increase their capabilities.
The FIFA Series, organized with women’s teams, will be held in Brazil, Thailand and Ivory Coast. While the men’s FIFA Series matches will be organized in Australia, Azerbaijan, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Mauritius, Puerto Rico, Rwanda and Uzbekistan. Regarding the new tournament, FIFA President Gianni Infantino said that the main goal of the FIFA Series is to create new opportunities for players, coaches and fans.
As well as to further highlight the universality and diversity of football through competitive matches. nfantino added that the 2026 event will further enrich the world's national teams, both men and women. The aim of the competition is to strengthen the world's most popular sport, where teams from different countries will face each other and local communities will have the opportunity to showcase themselves on the global stage. FIFA said that the competition will feature teams from different continental associations facing each other in friendly matches.
This will allow teams to gain valuable competitive match experience without adding new matches to the international schedule. After a successful pilot project in March 2024, FIFA is now going a step further by launching an entirely new competition. It will include more member countries, more venues than before and, for the first time in history, women's national teams will also participate.
FIFA originally started planning to organize the tournament on an expanded scale after receiving a positive response to the 2024 edition. According to FIFA, this expanded format will increase the number of competitive matches at the international level and will directly contribute to the development of world football. More details about the tournament will be announced in early 2026.
